October Security Update

Fox 59 News aired a story tonight about recent thefts from cars in Turfway Park and the neighborhood next to us. The following is an excerpt from the article:

Stolen guns are now in the hands of thieves in Johnson County following a string of car break-ins this week in the Old Smith Valley area of White River Township.

Police said eight cars in the same neighborhood were broken into last week. This week, another six were hit in the middle of the night.

Police in Johnson County are warning residents after a series of vehicle thefts in White River Township.

According to the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, eight thefts were reported from Sunday night into Monday morning in the Old Smith Valley area. The thefts happened on the following roads: Hyatt, Welton, Old Smith Valley and Turfway.

Police are reminding residents to watch for suspicious activity and keep their vehicles locked. Anyone with information should call the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office tip line at (317) 346-4654.

Fall Neighborhood Garage Sale!

Based on the recent poll results, the neighborhood garage sale for this fall has been set for Saturday, September 26th starting at 8am. The HOA Board of Directors will rent a sign for the neighborhood’s entrance and to advertise (and have requested that the sign be easily visible from Runyon Road this time!) Feel free to post your individual sale on garage sale sites. Let your neighbors know!

July Security Update #2

Turfway Park’s security officer, Sheriff’s Deputy Steve Edwards, has reported recent thefts from vehicles in the nearby area. The suspect’s vehicle has been reported as a white Chrysler 300 with custom wheels. If you see this vehicle, please call the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office at 317-736-5155. For all emergencies, please call 911.

July Security Update

Due to recent thefts from unlocked vehicles in the area, this is a reminder to please remove all valuables from your cars and lock them.

Reminder: Neighborhood Garage Sale on June 13th!

Turfway Park HOA is hosting a summer neighborhood garage sale next Saturday, June 13th! The HOA has rented a yard sign to advertise the sale that will be placed near the intersection of Runyon Road & Driftwood Lane. The HOA has also placed an ad in the Daily Journal which will appear in the classifieds section Thursday-Saturday of next week. The advertised start time is 8am with no specified end time. Feel free to advertise in garage sale groups, Craiglist, etc. if you’d like to! Let your neighbors know, and have fun! 😀

Are you unable to make the neighborhood sale on June 13th? The HOA will host a second sale sometime this fall. Watch the website for another poll to vote on the date! A post will be added to the website when the poll is available and when the fall sale date is set.

March Security Update #2

Turfway Park’s security officer, Sheriff’s Deputy Steve Edwards, has reported a recent day time burglary on Monday, March 23rd, in a neighborhood near the intersection of Morgantown & Fairview Roads. The suspect has been described as a black male in his mid-20s. No vehicle was seen.
